Hello BC/Yukon Members – I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Regional Director, BC/Yukon Region. My work as Regional Director since January 2015 has hopefully demonstrated to members that I have the skills, commitment and passion to represent our Region at all levels of the organization.
Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for participating in our recent elections! This really is the one of the most important things we do as members of our Union.
I also wanted to thank all of the candidates who participated! At the end of an election you cannot help but think of the quote from Roosevelt in his Citizenship in a Republic speech “It is not the critic who counts… the credit belongs to the [person] who is actually in the arena…” Thanks to all the candidates for being in the arena!
I am honoured and humbled by being elected Regional Director of BC/Yukon Region. I look forward to working with the new Board and all PIPSC members in the upcoming year!
We are Better Together!
As this is the last day to vote in the 2014 PIPSC Election, I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of those folks who have supported this campaign! Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. This truly has been a team effort! You folks are simply the best… Thank you.
The best part of running for Regional Director has been meeting and getting to know PIPSC members from all over the BC/Yukon Region and the Country. Unions are “people” powered entities, and their strength comes from their members, and based on our members… PIPSC has huge potential!
For those in the BC/Yukon Region you have until 2 PM PST today (Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014) to cast your ballot.
Please vote and please Vote Robert MacDonald!
So last night I was at my Personal Financial Planning class at BCIT and it was an introductory lecture on retirement.
The instructor (from the private sector), went on and on about how the defined benefit pension plan (our current plan) is excellent. He did not have one good thing to say about a defined contribution plan… not one…. (for example you cannot buy back past service, your actual pension income at retirement is unknown…I can share my notes if you like…).
Just another instance that reinforces that our benefits, including pensions, sick leave, vacation carry over provisions (the list goes one) are so very important.
Members, we must be ready to stand up and defend our benefits!
Now it really feels like an election.
Between now and Monday (Nov. 17) PIPSC members will be receiving their unique electronic voting key from firstname.lastname@example.org, with the headliner “PIPSC: Institute Elections 2014”.
We all have until Dec 3, 2014 – 2 PM (Pacific Time) to cast our ballots.
Please vote and have your voice heard!
It has been very encouraging to hear from so many members who want to see positive change in our Region! Now we need to get the vote out to start that change!
It would be an honour to have your support. Vote Robert MacDonald!
Welcome to PIPSC Election 2014!
I would like to wish all the candidates the best of luck!
This is a critical time for all public servants and unions! It is important that all members take a few moments to get to know the candidates and vote! A strong voter turnout sends a message to those who attack public servants and union! When you vote, you vote with power!
Please come back often to see updates and new material. Vote Robert MacDonald!
